Dust to Gold - Alexandra Library

High country station owner John Perriam will share the remarkable story of Bendigo and Shrek the world famous sheep over drinks and nibbles at the Alexandra Library on Wednesday November 11 at 7pm. The cost is $5.00 at the door and John's book, 'Dust to gold' will be available for purchase.
Shrek (and owner John Perriam) will be back visiting the library on Friday November 13 at 1:30pm.

Gavin Bishop - Queenstown Library

Queenstown Library is hosting a workshop with popular NZ author Gavin Bishop on Tuesday 17 November at 6.30pm in the library. 

Gavin is a children’s author and illustrator, who recently published ‘Piano Rock’ an account of his childhood growing up in Kingston.

This free workshop would be of benefit to those thinking of illustrating as a career or those who are simply interested in the process of creating a children’s picture book.

Haiku competition

In conjunction with the Alexandra Thyme Festival, the library is running the Alexandra Public Library Haiku Competition 2009.
 
To enter you must write a Haiku poem which includes themes of nature and / or the natural environment of Central Otago.
 
The three age categories are:
1. Ages up to 7
2. Ages 7 – 13
3. Ages 14 and over

ENTRIES CLOSE: Monday 16th November, 12 noon
 
You must include the following details:
Your name, address, phone number, age category, school name (if part of a school activity) and your Haiku.
