Unfortunately, the library catalogue only works in Internet Explorer or Safari (for Macs).  If you use Firefox, you will be unable to place reserves or have the functions in My Stuff work correctly.

Catalogue Address

The library catalogue address is different from the main website address. 

You can go directly to the catalogue here: catalogue.codc-qldc.govt.nz

Searching

  • You can search the catalogue without being logged in
  • If you don't see the search screen, click on the OPAC Search button (top left menu, above the login box)
  • In the search box, enter keywords from the author name and title e.g. type "frame mirror city" to locate Janet Frame's book "Envoy from the mirror city"
  • Click the Go button or hit Enter

My Stuff (your library account) - logging in

  • You must be logged in BEORE you can access My Stuff
  • Click here to open the catalogue in a new window
  • Once there, look for the blue login box on the left side of the screen
  • Enter your user name (your library card barcode number) and password (initially also your library card barcode number)
  • Click the "go" arrow
  • When you are logged in you will see your name at the top of the screen

What's in My Stuff?

User Name & Password

  • User Name
    This is your libary card barcode number - not your normal first and last  names.  This is a unique number that starts with the letter "m".  You need your library card barcode number to login to your library account and to our subscription databases.
  • Password
    Type your libary card barcode number into password.  At signup, your library barcode number was also assigned as the default password.  We advise you to change this to a personal password the first time you log in.
  • Once you are logged in, your name will appear at the top left of the screen.

Forgotten your password?
If you have forgotten your password, and you gave us an email address when you joined the library, please click on the "Forgotten your password?" link just under the login box - enter your library card barcode number and the password will be emailed to you.

If you don't have an email address, please phone the nearest fulltime branch, or use this contact form and ask for your password to be reset. Opening hours are M-S, 10-5 for fulltime branches.

If you do not have a library card, you can find out about how to join the library, however, you will need to come into your local library to complete and sign the membership application form.

Current Loans

Clicking the Current Loans link displays a summary of the items you have on loan. A red due date indicates the item is overdue.

Renewing items

You can renew your on loan items once.

  • Select the Current Loans link
  • There is a tick box beside each title to allow you to renew it.

The tick box will NOT appear if:

  • The item has been reserved by another borrower or
  • You have already renewed the item.

Reserving items

  • Reminder: you must be logged in BEORE you try to place a reserve. 
  • Click here to open the catalogue in a new window
  • Once there, look for the blue login box on the left side of the screen
  • Enter your user name (your library card barcode number) and password (initially also your library card barcode number) and click the "go" arrow.  When you are logged in you will see your name at the top of the screen.

Finding the item you want to reserve...

  • In the search box, enter keywords from the author name and/or title and hit Go  e.g. type "frame mirror city" to locate Janet Frame's book "Envoy from the mirror city"
  • Scroll down the list of titles and find the one you want
  • Click the box to the left of the title, and then click the Reserve button at the top of the screen. This will display the title in a new screen.
  • Here you are asked to confirm your reservation.
  • You should see the item you reserved and underneath this, you will see a dropdown list of library branches.  The displayed branch is where this book will be delived to (the pickup branch).  If you want to change this to another branch, select that branch from the list.
  • Click the Reserve button again

NOTE: There is a $1.00 charge per item for adult borrowers; junior members may reserve for free

My Reserves
Clicking the Current Reserves link displays a summary of the items you have on reserve. The tick box beside each title allows you to cancel any reservations when the Drop Selected reserves button is clicked.

My Magazines

My Magazines displays the list of magazines that you have set up an arrival notification for. When the library receives a new issue of your magazine, you will receive an email. Note: you must have registered an email address with us as the notification is sent via email

To set up a My Magazines alert
NOTE: You cannot set up an alert for a magazine received by another branch.

  • Reminder: you must be logged in BEORE you can set up an alert 
  • Your name will appear at the top left of the screen
  • In the search box, type keywords from the magazine title e.g. "Zealand House Garden" to see the New Zealand House and Garden magazine
  • Click the Add to my serials link.  NOTE: This link only appears beside magazines purchased by your local branch - you cannot set up an alert to be notified when the same magazine arrives in a different branch.
  • This will display the title in a new screen. Click the arrival notification box and save changes.
  • Your list of magazines is displayed in the My Magazines link.

My Alerts

My Alerts allows you to create alerts for new resources that match your interests. When a new item that matches your interest enters the library, a notification is sent to you by email. Note: you must have registered an email address with us as the notification is sent via email

To set up a new alert

  • Click the Add new alert using wizard link; you will be prompted to complete a series of five screens.

Decide whether you want to create a title alert, a subject alert or an author alert – you can select only 1 of these 3 options

  • For a title alert, enter keywords from the title leavng out words like "and, the, a"  e.g. "envoy mirror city" for "The envoy from the mirror city"
  • For an author alert enter both the first name and last name of the author e.g. Bryce Courtney
  • For a subject alert, enter keywords – the more keywords you enter, the more specific the subject will be e.g. “Thai cookery” rather than just “cookery”

HINT: Before you set up a subject alert, it might be helpful to first search for a book on the same general subject – you can check the subjects assigned to that book, so that you can use the same subjects in your alert.

Loan history

Clicking the Loan History link displays the items you have had out and returned, with the most recently borrowed items at the top.

To search your loan history
o Click on the Edit link in the browser menu
o Select Find on this page
o Type in a word from the title or an author name
o Hit the Search button - each time this word is found on the page it is highlighted; you can use the Find Next button to move to the next instance of the word

My Overdues

Clicking the My Overdues option displays any overdue items that you have. Overdues can be renewed via the Current Loans link. Please see How to Renew if you need to renew an item.
