Here's how to place a hold/order a book...

NOTE: Unfortunately, the library catalogue only works in INTERNET EXPLORER or SAFARI (for Macs), so if you use FIREFOX as your web browser,  you won't be able to place a reserve.  We apologize for this inconvenience.

Logging in

  • You must be logged in BEORE you try to place a reserve
  • Click here to open the catalogue in a new window
  • Once there, look for the blue login box on the left side of the screen
  • Enter your user name (your library card barcode number) and password (initially also your library card barcode number) and click the "go" arrow.  When you are logged in you will see your name at the top of the screen.

Find the item you want to reserve...

  • In the search box, enter keywords from the author name and/or title and hit Go  e.g. type "frame mirror city" to locate Janet Frame's book "Envoy from the mirror city"
  • Scroll down the list of titles and find the one you want

Order a book/Reserve an item/Place a hold

  • Click the box to the left of the title, and then click the Reserve button at the top of the screen.
  • This will display the title in a new screen. Here you are asked to confirm your reservation.

NOTE: This second confirmation screen does not display in Firefox, so you will only be able to complete your reservation request if you use Internet Explorer or Safari (for Macs).

  • You should see the item you reserved and underneath this, you will see a dropdown list of library branches.  The displayed branch is where this book will be delived to (the pickup branch).  If you want to change this to another branch, select that branch from the list.

  • Click the Reserve button again

NOTE: There is a $1.00 charge per item for adult borrowers; junior members may reserve for free

My Reserves

  • Clicking the My Reserves link displays a summary of the items you have on reserve.
  • You may cancel any reservation by putting a tick in the box, and clicking the "Drop Selected reserves" button.
